Beginning on Monday, September 28, the Town of Florence Public Works Department is applying a sealant to the crosswalks on Main Street, between Ruggles Street and 12th Street, in downtown Florence to preserve the life of the crosswalks.

A layer of polyurethane with aluminum oxide granules is applied to the crosswalks to provide a microtexture that also increases the level of safety for pedestrians using them.

The improvements are expected to take 5 days and are performed between the hours of 7:00 pm and 6:00 am. The anticipated completion date is Friday, October 2nd.

Traffic is detoured around the intersections while the work is ongoing. Main Street is reopened each day at 6:00 am. For questions, please contact Morris Taylor, Town of Florence Public Works Superintendent, at (520) 868-7621.
