The Town of Florence Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Jr. NBA Youth Basketball League for boys and girls, ages 6 to 17. This is a fundamental league focusing on fun, sportsmanship, and team play.
The deadline to register is Friday, January 20th. Registrations are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Parks and Recreation Office and Fitness Center, located at 133 North Main Street.
There is a fee of $30.00 per participant, which also includes a t-shirt. League games are played on Saturdays starting at the end of February at the Florence multi-purpose center (Fernando Ortega).
Children ages 6 to 8 can register for the Lil Tykes Division, and children ages 9 to10 are eligible for the Junior Division. There is also a boys division (ages 11 to 13), girls division (ages 11 to 13), and a boys and girls teen division (ages 14 to 17). Ages are determined as of January 20, 2012.
Participants registered for the Lil Tykes division play on 8 ft. or 9 ft. modified hoops, while the Junior, Senior, and teen division play on regulation hoops.
