June’s theme “Every Hero Has a Story!” continues at the Florence Community Library. During the third week of activities, the library focuses on “Superhero Screenings.” Staff from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension is on-hand at the library on Wednesday, June 17 at 10:00 am to perform vision and hearing screenings. Please call the library (520) 868-8311 for more information. Remember, to read, read, and read! Don’t forget to turn in your book logs. Prizes are given to the top 3 readers.

The library is hosting Summer Reading events for the week of June 15. On Monday, the third set of trivia handouts is available for children and young adults. Teen Tuesday is at 2:00 pm; the library has hands-on activities with the STEM Kits. On Wednesday at 10:00 am is Family Storytime, with John Hall’s “Mickey McGuffins’ Ear!” On Thursday at 2:00 pm, families create a “Superhero City” craft. On Friday, the library is showing a family movie at 1:00 pm., with free popcorn and drink. Because of licensing restrictions, movie titles are unavailable to the media or through the library’s website. Patrons may call (520) 868-8311 or visit the library for title information. Movies are subject to change.

Adults can have fun with summer reading, too! Adults receive an entry for weekly prize drawings for each book read. Additional prizes are given for book reviews, which are posted in a binder in the library!
