You are invited to the Florence Community Library’s March movie discussion.  Join us Saturday, March 11 at 1:00 pm, as we take a look at the Academy Awards, also known as “The Oscars.”

The Academy Awards were introduced in 1929, and have remained the most prestigious existing recognition of motion picture excellence.  The awards have not been without controversy, however, from accusations of lack of diversity to the simple belief that they’ve often “gotten it wrong” – To, of course, this year’s announcement of the wrong movie as Best Picture!

We will take a quick trip through the history of the Academy Awards, including a few Oscar winners that have stood the test of time and a couple that have not aged so well.  The discussion will be followed by a showing of a previous Best Picture winner, all completely free of charge.

Popcorn and water will be available while supplies last.  Patrons are also welcome to bring snacks and soft drinks to the show!
