There are many new arrivals, including DVDs and non-fiction books, this week at the Florence Community Library. Stop in and check out one or more of them out today.

The new DVD arrivals are a tribute to Stephen King fans. The new arrivals include:

Misery: Kathy Bates’ Oscar-winning role as a crazed fan who menaces her favorite writer
Needful Things: Max von Sydow as a devilish antiques dealer
Carrie: Sissy Spacek as a teen with a terrifying power
The Dark Half: Timothy Hutton as a modern day Jekyll-and-Hyde
Thinner: Let the curse fit the crime
Storm of the Century: An unspeakable evil has arrived

Non-fiction books added this week include:

Sports Illustrated Blood, Sweat and Chalk
Conversations with Cronkite
The Perfect Finish: Dessert for Every Occasion.

Family Story Time: Children of all ages and their caregivers are invited for a half hour of stories, finger plays and fun, fun, fun. Join “Miss Rita” Wednesday, October 6 at 10:00 a.m. as she reads Too Many Toys.

Thanks to everyone who attended our activities during the school’s Intersession. We hope everyone enjoyed our game nights, story times and movies. Just a reminder: we still have a Family Movie left to show on Thursday, September 30 at 2:00pm. There will be FREE popcorn and drinks for everyone!

The Book Club is meeting Wednesday, October 6 at 6:00pm and is discussing Return by Victoria Hilsop. The Book Club meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00pm at the library.

The Friends of the Library book sale is ongoing and books are being added every day. All children’s books and hardcover books are on sale for just 25¢. Paperback books are 2 books for 25¢. You just can’t beat the prices, so visit our comfortable seating area and pick out your reading materials!
