Monthly adult-focused programs return to the Florence Community Library, starting October 2017!

Fall/Winter programming is set to resume at the library, with a variety of activities to keep adults occupied.  Some of the monthly programs starting in October include:

Adult Coloring: Thursday, Oct. 5, 5:30 pm

The Florence Community Library invites adults to join us for a fun and relaxing coloring night! This event will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, and will continue monthly thereafter.  Basic supplies will be available, but feel free to bring your own materials as well.

Hospice of the Valley Talk: Tuesday, Oct. 10, 3:00 pm

October sees the start of a monthly discussion series held by Hospice of the Valley.  Hospice of the Valley volunteers will discuss various topics related to quality care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury.  The first topic will be “Hospice and Palliative Care,” focused on the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, and that our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.

The October presentation will take place at the library on October 10 at 3:00 pm.  Each month’s presentation is expected to last approximately one hour, including time for questions and discussion.

Library Tech Class: Thursday, Oct. 12, 2:00 pm

The library will host monthly tech classes from October – March, focused on various resources available with your library card.  Shawn Flecken, Emerging Technologies Librarian at the Pinal County Library District, will guide patrons through these available resources.  The first class, on Thursday, October 12 at 2:00 pm, will focus on the library’s digitization station, which allows patrons to turn their video cassettes, audio cassettes, photos, and slides into electronic files.  We thank the Pinal County Library District for bringing these talks to our library.

Open Mic: Friday, Oct. 20, 6:00 pm

Come show off your talent at the Florence Community Library’s Open Mic Night!  Join us Friday, Oct. 20, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and enjoy some local talent or show off some of your own. Whether it is comedy, singing, poetry or some other talent, we will provide a stage and mic for you share with the community.  Performers should contact the library to register in advance, so that we can make sure everyone is heard!
