Everybody loves to laugh, and everybody loves movies that make them laugh. Come to the Florence Community Library’s monthly movie discussion on Saturday, September 9, at 1:00 pm, as we look at the history of film comedy—followed by a free showing of a recent comedy!

In the presentation, we will briefly trace film comedy from its early days to today.  We will take a look at early silent comedies, and how they grew more sophisticated as motion pictures developed.  We will touch on the multiple genres that followed: from slapstick to satire, from screwball comedies to comedy/action hybrids.

The discussion will be followed by a showing of a recent movie.  Popcorn and water will be available to all while supplies last.  You are encouraged to bring snacks and soft drinks to the show!
