Florence Parks and Recreation Department is offering another series of Pickleball instructional classes to improve the skill level from beginner’s to advanced players. Pickleball can be described as playing tennis on a badminton-sized court. It accommodates two to four players at a time.

The sequential series of instruction is scheduled on four Tuesdays, starting April 4 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the pickleball courts, just west of the Library and Community Center at 778 N. Main Street. There is no fee for the class and is open to the first 16 people who register.

While there is no fee for the class, pre-registration is required. Register at the Florence Library/Community Center at 778 N. Main Street, Florence Fitness Center at 133 N. Main or online at www.florenceaz.gov/parks-and-recreation.

Long-time pickleball instructor and tournament player, Ferd Sobota will provide instruction and direction on rules, equipment and tips on effective play and strategy. Sobota will gear each week to the following schedule: week one is for beginners, followed by beginner and novices the second Tuesday. He follows up with the third Tuesday for the novice/advanced player and finishes the last Tuesday, March 14th for advanced instruction.
