On Tuesday, March 29, 2011, the Friends of the Florence Community Library sponsored a Family Legacy Workshop. This workshop, conducted by author Linda Weaver Clarke, focused on turning family histories into stories. The Florence Community Library would like to thank the Friends for supporting this and future library programs.

Clarke, author of the “Family Saga in Bear Lake, Idaho” series, reviewed ways to take bare facts about your family and transform them into tales with emotion and excitement. She emphasized the importance of research, stressing that bringing your ancestors to life requires bringing to life the world in which they lived. The presentation received enthusiastic feedback. One patron described it as “fantastic,” saying that she came away with several ideas for finding out more about her ancestors.

Future programs sponsored by the Friends organization are already planned. The next Friends-sponsored event will be a talk by Tucson-based mystery writer Elizabeth Gunn, to be held at the library on Wednesday, April 27. For more information, please call the library at (520) 868-9471.
