Florence Parks and Recreation Department will welcome the 2017 summer with its “Spring into Summer Water Safety Day” on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

From noon to 5:00 p.m., the department is offering free swim testing, registration for swim lessons and other summer programs as well as free open swim.

Several local agencies will offer valuable information to families. Those planning to attend are Pinal County Diabetes Coalition, Sun Life Family Health Center, Easter Seals, Florence Public Library as well as the Police and Fire Departments.

The Diabetes Coalition will offer free blood glucose and cholesterol testing while Sun Life will distribute free fans and sun block. Easter Seals will offer information and brochures about its “Parents as Teachers” program. This program offers information and support to parents of children up to five years old, to guarantee the child develops optimally during early formative years. Library staff will have information about its popular summer reading programs. Public safety officials will also offer a variety of valuable information. Two raffles will be held during the afternoon, presenting visitors with the opportunities to win great prizes.

Everyone is invited to attend the Florence Aquatic Center at 174 W. First Street located just west of the downtown library and community center.
