Water Workouts

The Florence Parks and Recreation Department is hosting several activities and classes to provide you with a refreshing way to workout. Adult Lap Swim, Low-impact Water Aerobics, Water Aerobics and Water Walking classes are now available for registration. What better way to exercise this summer than with a refreshing workout at the Florence High School Pool?

Adult Lap Swim is open to individuals who wish to improve their overall fitness through swimming laps at their own pace. Please note this is not a swim lesson class.

This activity is held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm from June 16th to June 30th. The registration fee is $7 for the month.

Low Impact Water Aerobics is a great way to start your morning off with splashing to the oldies. This is a fun, low impact water aerobics class designed for individuals looking to challenge themselves without putting undue stress on their joints. Water provides both buoyancy and resistance, resulting in a complete workout that improves cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, posture, balance, stress and more. No swimming ability required since the class is conducted in shallow water.

This class is held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 am to 9:45 am from June 16th to June 30th. The cost is $10.00 for the month.

Water Aerobics participants workout to fun aerobic routines while staying cool and rocking to their favorite tunes. This shallow water, resistance training and cardiovascular workout is beneficial for all fitness levels.

This class is held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm from June 15 to June 29. The cost is $15.00 for the month.

Shallow Water Walking is an easy, effective, low-impact aerobic workout. Water provides 12 to 14 times the resistance of air, resulting in strengthened muscles while burning up to 550 calories per hour. Water walking shoes are highly recommended.

The class is held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm from June 16th to June 30th. The cost is $7.00 for the month.

All activities and classes are held at the Florence Community Pool, located on the Florence High School campus at 1000 South Willow Street. Registrations are open to ages 15 years and older. The registration deadline for all activities and classes is June 11th.
